Changes are coming to the criminal justice system in Illinois and the way police are going to be expected to respond to some calls.
A 700 plus page bill will end cash bail for a number of alleged crimes over the next two years, it mandates body cameras for all police in Illinois and creates a new class of felony for a police officer who violates the state’s body camera law.
Governor JB Pritzker says bill is better because both sides had input and policing will be safer because of the changes.
Cut :26 ‘…safer.’
Many in law enforcement are against the changes that are coming. The changes don’t all happen at once and are set to take effect over the next few years.
