Some may have called it a million-dollar rain last week. I called it a start towards a million-dollar rain. Some places in the county received a nice 2 inches of steady rainfall, but others were not so lucky. Some got a little hail and pushed-over corn as well, but others were lucky and avoided the heavy stuff. It was a lot of variability. Speaking of variability, while traveling across the county, you see some spectacular corn and soybeans and yet see some poor stands as well. I would say we are in a really good part of the country for the most part. The rain really helped boost a lot of spirits this week. But with more storms on the way and that "white combine" lurking around the corner, folks are still pretty nervous.
