Pleasant temperatures, clear skies and low humidity were on tap last week, just delightful. From a crop perspective, we could definitely use another shower. Corn is firing on sand along with some of the better ground where pre-emerge liquid N was applied. Side-dressed corn is still holding good color. All this is compounded by how much farmers pushed through our wet planting season. With the fair called off, we cleaned out a shed and turned it into a Home Ec building. The family will be here Saturday to compete in everything from tallest corn, photography, 10 best green beans, baked goods and showing of the granddaughter's two hogs. Just can’t give the fair up.
