It was another busy week, but still out of the fields. The Coles County corn crop reached or is approaching R6 black layer (physiological maturity) so harvest could start in the next week depending on how much farmers want to dry their corn. Early-planted soybean fields are coming into the R7 stage where they turn yellow and begin to dry down to harvestable moisture. I heard of some harvesting in surrounding counties, so at any time the busy season may begin here.
