We are finishing up our last herbicide sprayer passes in the corn and soybean fields and watching the crops grow. We were starting to get dry until Monday evening brought a pretty even 2 inches to the area. After that, the fields look as good as they have yet this year. It’s a tale of two crops between the fencerows. The corn crop has taken its lumps and it shows. There is a crop out there, but I’m afraid record-shattering potential is already off the table. Soybeans seem to have rolled with the punches, looking uniform and closing up rows just in time for the long sunny days after the solstice.
