Rain, rain, rain, and more rain. Last week became a hot, soggy week as a weather front stalled over the Midwest allowing stormy clouds to dump heavy rain along it’s path. The farm rain gauge collected more than 6 inches, while nearby Belleville had more than 8 inches that caused localized flooding. Other damage in the area included downed trees and power lines. Crops continue to look good since there is adequate moisture to grow on, and daytime temperatures remain in the low 90s. Humidity remains high, making outdoor chores uncomfortable. Local grain bids are corn, $3.33; soybeans, $9.12; wheat, $5.26. Have a safe week.
