Farmers may learn about watershed planning, innovative projects and the role they play in local watersheds during a 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 19 webinar hosted by Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) of Northeastern Illinois.

The webinar is designed to connect participants to top experts from the area. Presenters will include Lauren Lurkins, Illinois Farm Bureau Environmental Policy director, discussing the Mississippi North Central Watershed Screening Analysis Project.

Other presenters include:

  • Steve Zimmerman, Applied Ecological Services, Basics of a Watershed and Watershed Planning.
  • Dean Johnson, DeKalb County SWCD, DeKalb’s History of Watershed Planning.
  • Kerry Leigh, Natural Land Institute, The Healthy Land and Water Partnership.

Following the presentations, participants may join a “brown bag discussion” during which they may discuss ideas about watersheds and break into smaller groups.
