More rain could be on the way this weekend for much of Illinois.

“I think there is going to be another weather system that brings some significant rain back into Illinois late this week and into early weekend,” Meteorologist Dan Hicks with Freese-Notis Weather said during a Tuesday visit with RFD Radio Network.

Some areas could see as much as 1 to 2 inches.

“These wettest areas of the Midwest will have another go around with rain before the weekend,” Hicks said. “Beyond that point it does look a little bit drier in the six-to-10 day and 11- to 15-day period.”

While most areas of the state have received excessive moisture this month, there is that pocket between Chicago and Rockford that is experiencing drought conditions.
