In celebration of farm dogs everywhere who work alongside their people to bring nutritious food to our table and our pet’s bowls, the American Farm Bureau Federation has teamed up with Purina for the fourth annual Farm Dog of the Year Contest. Members of the public are invited to vote online for their favorite dog in the People’s Choice Pup part of the overall competition.

Voting takes place on Facebook where a “like” on the post will be counted as a vote. Voting is open until Dec. 31.

The top 10 contenders include:

  • Cinco, a border collie from Utah
  • Digger, a labrador retriever from Ohio
  • Dixie, a shag from Idaho
  • Fit, a border collie from Florida
  • Hasty, a hanging tree from Arizona
  • Lorek, an Australian shepherd from New York
  • Keeper, a border collie from Kansas
  • Maybelle, a border collie from New Hampshire
  • On The Lamb Zip, a border collie from South Carolina
  • Ruger, a German shepherd from Texas

The People’s Choice Pup will win bragging rights and Purina products including one year’s worth of dry dog food. The winner of People’s Choice Pup, along with the Farm Dog of the Year and runners-up, will be announced in January at AFBF’s Convention.
