Livestock farmers can now access a program aimed at providing information about the latest rules and regulations for concentrated animal feeding operations.
Farm Gate was created by Illinois Agricultural Coalition, a partnership among Illinois Farm Bureau, the Illinois Beef Association, the Illinois Milk Producers’ Association and the Illinois Pork Producers Association.
“Illinois Farm Bureau is proud to offer this free and confidential resource to our members. We hope they take advantage of the opportunity,” said Lauren Lurkins, IFB director of environmental policy.
Farm Gate focuses on clarifying and simplifying the latest rules and regulations for concentrated animal feeding operations through educating farmers. IFB wants to assist farmers with regulatory questions and provide educational opportunities and resources to help meet industry regulations and protect the environment.
“We hope Farm Gate will provide Illinois livestock farmers with the educational resources and information to be prepared in the event of an EPA on-farm inspection,” Lurkins added.
The free, confidential program offers information to all sizes of operations, but focuses on small and medium-sized livestock farms.
