Residents in five central Illinois counties and a northwest county are being offered single-dose COVID vaccinations by new state rapid response teams or more vaccine opportunities at existing sites, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Tuesday. The latest announcement came in addition to one Monday about National Guard vaccination teams deploying to six rural counties.

Rapid response vaccination teams are being sent to Fulton, Tazewell and Woodford counties in central Illinois and JoDaviess County in northwest Illinois. The teams will administer Johnson & Johnson vaccines to county residents. Additional vaccine is being supplied to existing sites in McLean and Peoria counties to be administered through existing clinics.

Local health department are coordinating appointments.

The governor said rapid response teams will help counties address early signs of possible resurgence of COVID-19. He thanked the Illinois National Guard for helping with the state’s COVID-19 response.
